Creating disaster resiliency is a key priority in our commitment to Community Matters, our dynamic social impact initiative at GAF.

Leveraging our time, expertise, and resources to support our communities is critical in pursuing our mission to protect what matters most, and we're honored to be recognized by The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) in their 21st annual Citizens Awards for Best Community Resilience and Disaster Response Program.

Every year, the USCCF Citizens Awards highlight leading examples of corporate citizenship and social responsibility that work towards a strong, healthy, and sustainable future.

Moreover, the awards serve to inspire and empower companies of all shapes and sizes to pursue new ways of leading a purpose-driven business.

"We're committed to helping companies be the best versions of themselves and learn how doing well and doing good can be mutually beneficial for business and our communities. Showcasing how organizations like GAF are helping solve problems both big and small through its Community Matters initiative is key to empowering corporate citizenship all across the U.S."

- Marc DeCourcey, Senior Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation

At GAF, this meant transforming our range of philanthropic and socially responsible efforts into a clear and strategic social impact initiative. Though GAF Community Matters launched in January of 2020, we are organizing all of our partnerships and activities into a consolidated platform that creates disaster resiliency, helps neighbors and builds communities.

Each of these areas represents the ways GAF powers the potential of the communities where we operate, leveraging our strengths to aid those in need every day and during critical times of disaster.

Building Community Resilience

We can't do this work alone. GAF's partnership with Good360, a nonprofit organization that strengthens communities impacted by natural disasters, is a prime example of how initiatives like Community Matters can amplify the depth and breadth of our disaster response efforts.

Over the past twelve months, GAF and Good360 worked to accelerate the recovery of communities impacted by disaster, helping to provide donated goods when they are needed.

In addition to nearly $4 million in donated building materials, GAF combined its shipping and warehousing operations with employee volunteerism to aid vulnerable families in need—including those still impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Florence, Michael, Laura, and many of the major storms hitting the U.S. this year.

Our collective work helps maximize the positive impact of relief and long-term recovery efforts, extending well beyond in-kind donations to engage more than 40 nonprofit organizations and support over 20,000 lives directly affected by disaster.

As the frequency and intensity of natural disasters continue to increase, it's imperative that businesses continue to partner with their communities to prepare for and respond to disasters.

We thank our partners like Good360 and appreciate them nominating GAF for the USCCF Citizens Award.

All of us at GAF continue to benefit from the leadership and guidance of the USCCF, and we encourage any and all of our partners to engage with the Corporate Citizenship Center to explore tools and resources that may help drive business for good.
