Commercial Roofing Fasteners & Plates

Roof fasteners and plates are used for mechanical attachment of insulation and roofing membrane to roof deck material. Mechanical attachment is the most common single-ply roofing attachment method since it is fast, economical, and can be installed in various temperatures.

Roofing fasteners & plates FAQs

Roofing fasteners and plate are used to secure single ply roofing membrane and insulation to a roofing substrate such as wood, structural concrete or metal.
The exact distinction between insulation plates and membrane plates depends on their functions: insulation plates are 3 inches in diameter, used for securing insulation products such as rigid foam or cover boards to the structural roof deck, while membrane plates are 2 to 2 3/8 inches in diameter, placed in the lap seam to secure the single-ply roof membrane to the structural deck.
GAF offers fasteners for a wide range of deck materials (and other substrates) including Steel, Structural Concrete, Light Weight insulating Concrete, Wood Plank, Plywood, Wood Fiber, OSB, Polyiso, HD Polyiso, and Gypsum.
For help identifying the right fastener and plate for our next project, refer to the GAF Commercial Full Product Catalog, which includes uses, sizes, and recommended lengths in an easy-to-use format.
GAF roofing systems can help mitigate wind uplift (the upward vacuum forces caused by negative air pressure) through precisely engineered fastener patterns for mechanical attachment systems. Wind performance varies significantly depending on the roof type and building geometry. Consult your specification for details, or connect with the GAF Design Services team for assistance.
GAF fasteners are manufactured with a variety of anti-corrosion coating technologies, including specialized corrosion-resistant coatings or Galvalume steel to prevent premature rusting.
All GAF fasteners qualify for GAF roof system guarantees when installed according to qualified system specifications. See GAF Commercial Roofing Guarantees for details.
