The GAF Roofing Academy is a tuition-free training program designed to help students build the necessary skills for an entry-level roofing position in commercial or residential roofing, including solar. Recent graduates, Ricky Gass and Juell Mollette, share their experience with the hands-on training program, as well as how it has set them up for success in their careers.
Building community. That's what two successful businesses—Accent Roofing and Rhoden Roofing—aim to do throughout the year by boosting their participation in GAF's Habitat for Humanity Contractor program. The concept is simple: roofing contractors volunteer their time, labor, and expertise to a Habitat for Humanity project and GAF donates all of the GAF roofing materials used on the project.
When Bobbi Jones, 26, of Roxbury, MA, and Yeren "Jay" Rivera Cruz, 19, of Jamaica Plain, MA, were chosen from an impressive pool of applicants to join This Old House's team on Season 42's Dorchester project, they also got the chance to learn about the roofing trade from the pros.
If your new PolyISO manufacturing production line is expected to be roughly the length of two and a half football fields, you need to find the space to accommodate it all. For GAF, the ideal place turned out to be in New Columbia, Pennsylvania—a small town located in the central portion of the state that is already home to an existing GAF manufacturing plant. This is the fourth new facility for GAF manufacturing EnergyGuard™ Polyiso Insulation, a popular insulation board used in a large number of commercial roofing systems, including modified bitumen, built-up roofing, and single-ply. The company also manufactures polyiso in Cedar City, Utah; Gainesville, Texas; and Statesboro, Georgia.
