Customer Reviews

"Rockin Roofers is a dba of Simply Solar. I contracted with both entities to install a new roof and solar system installation. They breached almost every point in the contract (e.g., neglecting to take out permits; leaving old flashing in place, slapping shingles and cold tar on top of old flashing, which directs water *underneath* the shingles; gaps between the plywood roof base and walls; using cheap wood for the base that acts like a sponge and absorbs moisture; leaving old roofing debris in the eaves...that's just the short list). The work was not only *not* to code but also so subpar that it caused enormous resulting damages to my home. The water intrusion in my home is so bad (65% moisture reading) that water burst through a ceiling into my home. There is now mold and dry rot to the structure. (There are comparable issues with the solar installation as well.) This is all documented in an independent inspection report performed by a company chosen by the Rockin Roofers/Simply Solar CEO, Jake Hassid, as well as two other independent inspections, one by a forensic roofer. The liability is clear - the scope is not. Magnifying the problems with workmanship was the struggle at every step to get Simply Solar/Rockin Roofers to acknowledge their responsibility. Each time I brought up a problem, they either said it was unrelated to their work or blamed it something or someone else - manufacturer's defect; equipment failure; the condition of my home's wood siding...it goes on and on. (They never mentioned the wood siding when they presented the job proposal or did the work.) You might be able to imagine the horrible stress and disruption and in my life this caused on top of the damages and expense. It is an awful nightmare. They apologize a lot and say "they'll make it right" but never do. I contacted Rockin Roofers when the leak occurred, thinking they would repair it quickly. After weeks of rebuffs, Mr. Hassid eventually admitted that there were serious problems with the work which they hadn't realized. A competent contractor would have “realized” it. But Rockin Roofers had subcontracted the job and didn't oversee the work, hadn’t applied for the required permits, didn't perform inspections, and didn’t take my complaints seriously. Mr. Hassid then blamed the subcontractor for the work but at the same time, claimed that the leaks and resulting damages were due to deteriorating wood shingle siding. Every inspector and contractor who examined it has said that the roof installation accelerated deterioration of the siding - not the other way around. The repair that Mr. Hassid offered was vaguely stated, insufficient - it was a bandaid that would not have addressed the unperformed points in the original contract nor the deficiently executed work and resulting problems documented in the report. Had I agreed to that repair it would have created much more damage in my home's structure over time. Because Rockin Roofers subcontracted my job (without my knowledge or approval) and didn't monitor the work, it makes their claims about experience and Master Elite certification specious. You cannot rely on what they present on their website, in their proposals, and what they say. *Their "Ironclad Guarantee" and warranties for both the roof and solar work have been worthless.* They are very agreeable, they express concern but then do nothing. My efforts to get a resolution have taken a toll. My home and life have been in various stages of disarray and disrepair since the work began. It has been 17 months since the leak through the interior ceiling. It's been a grinding and expensive journey. Everything written here is true, based on verified events and inspections - not opinion. I am not an isolated case, and I am not the first nor only one. I found 18 other cases on Yelp and Google reviews without much digging, though many of them have since disappeared. Note: My reviews of Rockin Roofers/Simply Solar have previously disappeared despite no violations. The GAF roofing supplier website only displays positive Google reviews."

My home and life have been in various stages of disarray and disrepair since the work began. It has been 17 months since the leak through the interior ceiling.
