GAF Grand Sequoia® Shingles are made bigger and thicker than the average architectural shingle to pass the UL 2218 Class 4 Impact-Resistance Test.1

1 Only products sold in packages bearing the UL 2218 Class 4 PRI Validation Program statement are rated for Class 4 impact resistance, respectively. Testing performed under controlled laboratory conditions by Certerra Analytical - PRI. GAF makes no express or implied warranty about the impact performance of these products against hail. Hail damage is not covered under the limited warranty. See GAF Shingle and Accessory Limited Warranty available at gaf.com/warranties for complete coverage and restrictions.

Yes, the rugged, oversized features of GAF Grand Sequoia® Shingles are made to resemble the look of rustic handcrafted wood shakes. They echo the majesty of their namesake giant redwoods, and are perfectly suited to the scale of a larger home.

If you’re considering an alternate wood-shake look, consider GAF Woodland® Shingles inspired by the look fo hand-cut, European wood shakes.

Both options from the GAF Designer Shingles collection create the appearance of a wood shake roof.

GAF Grand Sequoia® Shingles should use a minimum of 3/8" thick (10 mm) plywood or OSB decking. Do NOT fasten shingles directly to insulation or insulated deck unless authorized in writing by GAF. Roof decks and existing surfacing material must be dry prior to installation of shingles. Learn more about Camelot® II installation instructions and the best practices for contractors.

The cost of GAF Grand Sequoia® Shingles can vary significantly as roofing contractors consider many variables when preparing your roof cost estimate, including:

  • Home size – The size of your roof is the biggest cost factor. Cost per square usually includes materials and installation.
  • Slope and pitch – The pitch and complexity of the roof may influence the roofing materials selected, which will also impact cost.
  • Location – The area you live in — its cost of living, climate, local building codes and permit requirements — are variables that also factor into the cost of your new roof.

To understand replacement costs specific to your roof, your preferences, your budget, and your goals, find a contractor near you today. Contractors seeking pricing should contact their Territory Manager or distribution partner for more information.

GAF Grand Sequoia® Shingles are installed as part of a complete roofing system, featuring multiple layers that work together to create a durable system. Install Grand Sequoia® Shingles with at least 3 qualifying GAF accessories and get a Lifetime Limited Warranty on your qualifying GAF products plus non-prorated coverage for the first 10 years.

Grand Sequoia® Shingles also feature proprietary DuraGrip Adhesive, creating a strong bond between the shingle and the layer below it. Once each layer is added and the DuraGrip Adhesive bonds to the roof, Grand Sequoia® shingles require at least four nails per shingle for standard installations.

Both GAF Grand Sequoia® Shingles and GAF Grand Sequoia® AS Shingles are made to pass the UL 2218 Class 4 Impact-Resistance Test,1 achieving this designation in different ways.

Standard Grand Sequoia® Shingles are made bigger and thicker than the average architectural shingle, providing elegance and peace of mind.

Grand Sequoia® AS Shingles are made with rubber-like SBS-modified asphalt to provide excellent flexibility that enhances resistance to cracking and allows AS II shingles to lay flatter in colder temperatures2 when compared to our standard asphalt shingle. This proprietary SBS-modified asphalt provides excellent granule adhesion per ASTM testing standards,3 making Grand Sequoia® AS Shingles an easy to handle and dependable option for use in varying climates.

1 Only products sold in packages bearing the UL 2218 Class 4 PRI Validation Program statement are rated for Class 4 impact resistance. Testing performed under controlled laboratory conditions by Certerra Analytical - PRI. GAF makes no express or implied warranty about the impact performance of these products against hail.
