The GAF Roofing Academy is a tuition-free training program designed to help students build the necessary skills for an entry-level roofing position in commercial or residential roofing, including solar. Building community. That's what two successful businesses—Accent Roofing and Rhoden Roofing—aim to do throughout the year by boosting their participation in GAF's Habitat for Humanity Contractor program. The concept is simple: roofing contractors volunteer their time, labor, and expertise to a Habitat for Humanity project and GAF donates all of the GAF roofing materials used on the project.
When Bobbi Jones, 26, of Roxbury, MA, and Yeren "Jay" Rivera Cruz, 19, of Jamaica Plain, MA, were chosen from an impressive pool of applicants to join This Old House's team on Season 42's Dorchester project, they also got the chance to learn about the roofing trade from the pros.

Female trailblazers create a community of belonging dedicated to empowering a gender diverse workforce through the development and advancement of GAF women in sales.On a freezing D.C. morning in February of 2019, Natalia Gallo, Regional Director of Mid-Atlantic Sales, answered the phone. "For the first time, I formally spoke out loud of the things that were happening—the real hurdles we face as women in sales within the predominantly male roofing industry." On the other end of the line, Rachel Engelstein, VP and Chief Litigation and Compliance Counsel, had the same thought, that this was something long overdue for real conversation. Together it was decided—we need to do something more.
