The fan should be based on the attic square footage and amount of NFA Intake:
1600 sq. ft. or less - ERV4 - 1000 CFM
2200 sq. ft. or less - ERV5 - 1250 CFM
2800 sq. ft. or less - ERV6 - 1500 CFM
2300 sq. ft. or less - EGV5 - 1450 CFM
3000 sq. ft. or less - EGV6 - 1600 CFM
It is recommended to use 14 gauge wire under 50 ft. and to use 12 gauge wire over 50 ft.
Always check and follow local or state building codes.
CFM = Cubic Feet per Minute. In this case, it is the cubic feet of air that a fan will move in one minute.
NFA - Net Free Area. This is the actual open area of a vent which will allow air passage.
No, the fan is designed to be installed on an Asphalt Shingled roof, with a pitch between 3:12 and 12:12.
Master Flow® Replacement Motors, along with some available parts, can be purchased through Home Depot.
Some vibration may be caused by oversizing of attic fans. These would seem to "bounce" on the roof. Not having the required nails may also cause vibrations. There should ba a nail every 4" on the perimeter of the flashing. A damaged blade may result in an imbalance, thus promoting vibrations.
Master Flow® fans do not have a battery. These only work in direct sunlight.
