Preguntas frecuentes

Polyisocyanurate (Polyiso) is a thermoset plastic which, when produced as a foam and used as rigid thermal insulation, offers a higher R-value (approx. 5.5-6.5) per inch compared to non-polyiso types of insulation of equivalent thickness. Polyiso is one of the most commonly used and specified forms of commercial roof insulation also offering superior fire and moisture resistance.
TCPP-Free NH polyso does not contain potentially hazardous flame retardant chemicals. TCPP-Free EnergyGuard™ NH Polyiso Insulation maintains the same R-value when tested according to ASTM C1289 standard using the C518 test method at both a mean temperature of 40°F (4.4°C) and 75°F (24°C) and is better for the environment as it contains no potentially hazardous flame-retardant chemicals. In a first for the industry, the full line of EnergyGuard™ NH TCPP-Free polyiso products is available at standard EnergyGuard™ polyiso pricing.
Tapered insulation design helps provide positive drainage to move water efficiently off the roof. Since so many commercial roofs are essentially flat, standing water can become a serious problem by promoting vegetation growth, seam separation, and freezing damage, as well as simply adding unnecessary and potentially harmful weight to the roof structure. An effective tapered design, according to the 2018 International Building Code, should "ensure drainage of the roof within 48 hours of precipitation."

GAF EnergyGuard™ insulation products can contribute towards meeting criteria for several of the most popular green building rating systems (LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge among others) and GAF can provide third-party product-specific documentation such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), GREENGUARD Gold certifications, Recycled Content Certifications, Health Product Declarations (HPDs), and Declare labels to meet disclosure requirements.

GAF is the only manufacturer in the industry to offer third-party verified recycled content of its GRF facers. Values range from 13% - 41% depending upon thickness. See GreenCircle Certification certificates by thickness of polyiso on gaf.com.

GAF has achieved GreenCircle Certified Recycled Content Certifications for flat and tapered EnergyGuard™ Polyiso Insulation and EnergyGuard™ NH Polyiso Insulation.
