The New American Home 2020

The National Association of Home Builders’ New American Home is an event showcasing technological advancements in the housing industry each year. In 2020, the Association recognized GAF as a roofing innovator when they chose us as a key partner in this multi-brand collaboration to build an ultramodern “ideal” home using the latest building systems and home products. GAF was proud to play a part in this exciting, ambitious, and highly successful initiative.

The New American Home - the challenge and solution to a TPO building project
The Challenge
The model home architect required a gray TPO instead of white to cover the low-slope portion of the roof—since the SRI index was lower. It was also imperative the solution had the flexibility to seamlessly cover the various penetrations and pipes on the roof.
The Solution

To meet the challenge and account for the need for low-reflectivity, GAF’s high-performance and durable 60 mil EverGuard® TPO in Gray was chosen over darker asphaltic or EPDM roofing systems. This helped achieve the architect’s sleek, minimalist vision as well as saving on cooling costs on this multi-faceted roof.*

*Energy cost savings are not guaranteed and the amount of savings may vary based on climate zone, utility rates, radiative properties of roofing products, insulation levels, HVAC equipment efficiency, and other factors.
