"Called to get a quote on a new roof. Todd came out to speak with my wife and I. After speaking with Todd, we agreed that we did not like his personality. I called Todd to let him know we would not be moving forward with his business. He asked why and I told him the exact reason, his personality. He promptly hung up on me. Todd then called me back within 10 minutes to berate me about how he did not want my business in the first place. He was very unprofessional, unstable, and belligerent. This shows me we made the right decision. Edit, Response: Todd, Thank you for your response. I have made a few notes below to help guide you on what to do and not to do next time you're presented with a challenge. "I will let our reviews over the last 14 years speak for themselves." This is the reason we called, great reviews. However, the reviews proved to be superficial to us once we had personal interaction. Focus on the personal interactions. If you're not having a good day, it's worth cancelling a meeting, rather than having a negative interaction. "I made the conscious decision that I would not let this person bully me with his words as I cowered with the thought that I may get a bad review." False statement. When you asked why we decided not to move forward, I provided you with a straight answer, "we did not like your personality." That is not bullying. As adults, we should be able to take feedback, both complimentary and critical. However, calling me back after hanging up on me, directly after making that comment, and proceeding to use expletive language could constitute bullying for some. In closing, your response does not address the central point. Being able to take feedback is critical to personal and professional development. We wish you the best."
