  • "The people there are friendly and very helpful. Their prices are much better than the big box stores. They don't have everything but everyone should check out what they do have."

  • "Bought a range from them. Missing two burner covers and couldn't find a gas hose to fit it. Had to order (on back order) over a hundred dollars. Buyer beware"

  • "My experience with HIW has been a nightmare. I bought 10 kitchen cabinets, a sink, a hood, and "free" granite counter tops. First, my cabinets took MONTHS to come in. They told me 6 weeks, it was more like 12. I got my cabinets installed and went to give them measurements for the counter tops and was told I have to pay $500 for cutting and polishing. I was never informed about this. I asked for some kind of refund/discount on the price of the granite for the unreasonably inaccurate estimation for the cabinets. They said no, because the problem wasn't on their end, it was the supplier. That is a very bad way to do business. EVERY business has suppliers. As the customer-facing business, its on you to make the customer happy. If I return a defective product to Lowes, they don't tell me "Well that was Stanley's product. Not our fault." They correct the issue regardless of fault because they are the ones selling the product. I designed my entire kitchen around the idea that I was going to make a bar area to eat by having the granite extend out 6 inches past the edge of the cabinets. I was told when I bought my cabinets that it wouldn't be a problem. When I brought my measurements, suddenly they couldn't do it. I will have to buy new counter tops in the future when its in the budget. The granite counter tops themselves have tons of issues. First of all, they told us the wrong depth!! They said they were 24.5 inches deep, when they are 24 & 5/8 inches deep. Because they couldn't cut one solid piece for my counter tops, having a correct depth is vitally important. I had to cut into my walls to recess the countertops 1/8" to make them fit because of their incorrect information. Some of the pieces were different thicknesses, so I had to shim them to make them flush. Huge quality control issue. Lastly, in places were the pieces butt together, they rounded the edges!! So the seams in the countertops are glaringly obvious."
