"Hired to replace my roof. Didn't finish and also messed up our carport regarding a repair. Destroyed our gutters. Even the City inspector made notes how the job was not properly done in his notes. Matthew wanted full payment before he would finish the job.Matthew has ghosted us for months and we had to hire another roofer to complete the roof and carport. He's also currently being sued by two roofing supply company's"
"I probably should be feeling angry but to be honest am just feeling confused writing this review. We engaged Matthew Baker of Busy Bee roofing in late May for information and pricing on a new metal roof installation. Matthew was very pleasant and engaging during the initial meetings. We asked for a contract prior to work commencing and was told by Matthew that the proposal doubles as a contract ( the online link to that proposal has since expired) we asked how long the install would take and was told from tear down of old roof “ Two weeks” which considering the amount of labor involved fair. Matthew and his crew turned up for the old roof tear down which they did super fast and wrapped the roof with peel & stick moisture. From this point onwards the situation deteriorated, Matthew would show up for maybe 2 hours a week and install a couple of pieces of metal roof and disappear with no communication or schedule to return . Five weeks of barely showing and not responding to phone calls texts or emails he managed to get a crew on site for a day ( Saturday) it was raining heavily and we were not comfortable with these poor guys having to work in these conditions also the fact they were laying expensive metal roofing on soaking wet underlay was a concern but Matthew did not see it as a problem. We are now on week 10 have about 40% of the roof completed and Matthew has refused to provide us with any schedule for completion or a working link to the original proposal . At this point after taking $27k of a $35k install he has abandoned the job . We are engaging with another contractor who is willing to take over the permit and complete the job as currently we have no insurance coverage due to having an incomplete roof . How and why Matthew treated us like this and stopped communicating is mind boggling. We were Courteous and paid installments when he asked us to , we have reached out on numerous occasions over the last few weeks with nothing back . Update 9/21 : We found another roofing company willing to finish work . They tried to mediate with Matthew to phone us back but he never did .They also contacted him to see if he was willing to provide the materials to finish the job at which point he blocked their number . Update 9/26 The roofers we hired told us today that the rsupplier they use will not supply Matthew Baker of busy bee roofing any more roofing materials."
