  • "I initially contacted Blue Sky Roofing in January 2022. I had a roof leak and initially just wanted a simple repair, but was sold on doing a partial roof replacement for a slightly higher cost than other roofers had quoted for a repair. As part of this, there was some buckled plywood that needed replacing. Ramon and Josh were very responsive and answered all my questions before and after the appointment. Work started in February within 2 weeks of the contract being signed. Again, very quick. I was surprised to see subcontractors come out to tear off the old roof since I don’t recall being told this detail. The workers spoke very little English, which was not a major problem. I reminded them about needing new plywood and they said they would tell the guys doing the install the next day. The next day I reminded the workers about the plywood that needed replacing and they said it had already been done. The work initially showed signs of being rushed. See TL;DR and photos for details. I did pay for 2 pieces of new plywood. Trouble came in August 2022 when the roof leaked in the same place it had previously leaked. I investigated the attic to find water in the same area. This was disappointing, but not as disappointing as finding the plywood had not been replaced - the buckled/cracked piece was still there. I communicated my concerns to Blue Sky Roofing on 8/11/22 and on multiple more days following this and each time was told that someone would come out to fix it the next day without it ever happening. On 8/23/22, some workers finally came out to do some inspection and repairs. They spoke almost no English, but I think I managed to communicate my concerns. They walked around on the roof and I overheard them say “mierda” while motioning to some of the work that had been done. They explained that they were new to this company for the past 2 weeks and that “everyone works differently.” Anyways, they put some more black caulking in a bunch of places and told me to call the “boss” about the plywood issue. 8/29/22 I communicated via phone with Josh and discussed my concerns. He told me that the plywood had indeed been replaced. I explained that I had looked through the whole attic and every piece of plywood had both old nail holes and new nail holes and I could not find any new plywood. Josh said someone would come out and replace any plywood I needed, but did not concede that they had not already replaced some plywood somewhere. 9/17/22, the roof started leaking a lot more, again, despite the extra caulking. I notified Josh again and he said he’d talk to his team. A couple workers came out, this time without their “translator,” so they called their boss who said he was sitting in the office to translate. They applied more caulking and said they would need to come out the next business day to re-do the flashing since they thought that was the problem. 9/19/22 they came back out as promised, but I think they just applied more caulking. The flashing looked un-touched EDIT 9/25/22 I posted a negative review 9/26/22 I was contacted by the owner and that afternoon two representatives came out. A thorough re-investigation was performed and we discovered that the roof never actually was leaking, it was actually a window that was leaking. I also got confirmation that there was plywood replaced in an area I couldn't directly visualize, but that the area I was concerned about had not been replaced. I applied caulk to the window. Hurricane Ian happened the following day without any water entry to my knowledge. In sum, Blue Sky gave me a good quote for a roof replacement but responsiveness after roof being installed has been an issue until I posted a review. It turns out I may not have needed part of the roof fixed after all, which we could have known if a more thorough investigation was done before work began. Ultimately, I believe my roof is now water-tight, which was my main goal. If you choose to go with Blue Sky, just make sure you communicate clearly and often so as to avoid misunderstandings."

The flashing looked un-touched. There has been no official word yet regarding the plywood issue. This feels like something where the can will be kicked for as long as possible. TL;DR In sum, I can not recommend Blue Sky Roofing. I chose them because I wanted a nice-looking partial roof replacement, not a torn up and partially repaired roof. They unfortunately delivered a torn-up looking roof that is not water-tight and is of questionable workmanship. Pieces of plastic hang out of the shingles, nails are between shingles, caulk of all colors is everywhere, shingles are torn from being torn up to re-inspect, drip edges are already starting to rust, some shingles do not lay flat, stucco window framing is damaged, and black cement splattered on my walkway amongst other things. And the roof still leaks. Blue Sky Roofing’s responses to my ongoing issues have been reluctant at best, and there is still the issue of charging me to replace plywood but not actually performing the work (from what I can tell)."

  • "Blue Sky Roofing & Ben were wonderful to work with. We had a new roof put on our home in Palm Harbor. They were quick to get us a quote and the quality of work was amazing. I would highly recommend Blue Sky to anyone in the Tamp Bay Area!!!"
