  • "My heat died it was emergency, they took their time coming, promised to provide a report right away but didn't do so, I waited all day. Since I hadn't heard from them, I had to call and follow up to make sure a part was ordered. They told me they don't know when the part will be able to arrive and couldn't even provide an estimate. Lousy experience and I won't work with them again."

  • "BGE Home is okay overall. They are available 24x7 to receive service calls but it takes a week or more for them to send the technician. Our AC stopped working in the middle of peak summers and it took few days to get the technician but he was able to resolve the issue same day he came to look at the problem. Generally, I found the technicians actually knowledgeable and experienced and are able to provide good service."

They are happy to take your money, but when it comes to fixing your equipment, they are lazy and are quick to tell you that they cannot do the job unless I purchase a whole new system, despite the fact that other companies have been able to help. Why do we bother to pay extra every month for the service? We won't anymore."

UPDATE: I was able to chat with customer service online and we're now looking at five days out. A significant improvement. As always, the people are extremely nice as are the technicians who come. They just really need to do something about shortening the time for service contract holders. It's a recurring problem, even pre-pandemic."

  • "My furnace had gone up on Tuesday in my house. The first tech Joel came out on Wednesday and looked at it and it required a little more work then expected. So he told me that he would be out Thursday morning with his Team Leader Kevin. Since my furnace wasn’t working I wasn’t in the house. They waited for me to arrive to the house, which was really thoughtful of them. They were able to fix my furnace 🙏🏾! Both Kevin and Joel did an amazing job getting it back up and running! I’m so thankful to them and BGE home. I wanted to make sure that they know how appreciative I am. Awesome work Team leader Kevin and Joel!"

  • "I called BGE Home because the sinks were draining poorly. I was told 99. I was not informed that there would be additional charges. I think transparency is very important when conducting business. As a customer I deserve to know that there will be additional charges. I was extremely disappointed that this information was not communicated to me. Therefore, I feel that it is a waste of time and money that I stay with your company. I will save my money and pay another company outright should should another new arrises.I will be canceling my service with you guys. This is not the way to do business."

  • "I bought BGE home protection plan for a year starting from January this year. On 11/14/2021 I called them because water was dripping from my dish washer. They scheduled me for 11/21/2021. Their technician came didn't even do thorough inspection and told me that he need to order some parts. It took more than a week for them to receive those parts. And now as they received the parts I called them to schedule next work appointment. Now they have given me appointment on 01/03/2022, over a month from now. I don't know on 01/03/2022 technician finally going to fix my problem. But anyway just to get fix a small thing on my dishwasher I have to wait for almost 2 months. I conveyed this concern to their representative when I called second time to schedule an appointment, but without any courteousness he told me that 01/03/2022 is the earliest he has available. While I was searching for home protection plans BGE home sales person told me that as they have local technicians they have quite quick service. But now I am experiencing exactly opposite. Waiting almost for 2 months just to fix small thing on dishwasher is not acceptable. Definitely, I am not going to continue this service for next year."

  • "I have been trying to schedule service on my contract for 2 weeks. No answer just plays music. Wrote an email and asked for direct number noting my experience. They sent me same general number in response. Use to have great customer service. That no longer exists! Perhaps if I stop paying my bill they will respond! Would not deal with them again for anything and was thinking of using them for new windows. Not a chance! Next stop will be better business bureau!"

I had tried to make an appointment with the company who sold us the fridge and could not even get a diagnostic appointment for 2 weeks. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and direct me how to have the issue taken care of more promptly and the most cost effective way. Very grateful for the extra time and knowledge shared!"

  • "I feel forced to give a 1 star review. I scheduled a service appointment and after waiting 4 hours (out of a 5 hour window) I finally get a phone call. I missed it. Long story short after calling the technician back within minutes, followed by customer service, they refused to honor our appointment. I was here the entire time. I asked customer service, "Why not just knock on the door?" They said that so many people just aren't home they just call from wherever first. No answer, no visit. Fair enough...but I suppose doing that encourages customers like me to not make so much of an effort being here all the time."

  • "After 2 years it is time to look elsewhere, they are way overpriced and have been very slow to respond for service requests, my tenants were without air conditioner for a whole week before they finally sent somebody, now I discovered they put my contract on automatically renew without my permission, after 3 calls and 2 conversation with no results, still waiting on a call back to cancel it. Seriously ????? What a joke, I will update this review once this issue is resolved."

  • "So our salesperson Larry was incredible from start to finish and did not try to sell us more than we needed when we needed a new indoor and outdoor AC/heating unit. Since having it installed less than two years ago, it is almost impossible to even have BGE home come for just regular maintenance let alone for a real emergency. Currently our air has been running NON STOP ALL DAY and it is only getting hotter in here. We are currently at 80 degrees. When we called a MONTH AND A HALF AGO to just have routine maintenance performed, they scheduled us for this Wednesday. Maybe if they had come in a timely fashion, this wouldn't have happened. When we called to ask if they could come early given that it is broken AGAIN, we were told "nope, sorry....Wednesday is the earliest". This is the THIRD time this has happened with a unit that is less than two years old. Totally unacceptable. We will not be renewing our service plan with them and will return to a place with much better customer service. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere."

  • "Several months ago, I scheduled an AC maintenance appointment through the BGE Home website. On the website, it needed to be scheduled several weeks in advance. Later, on the day of the appointment, BGE Home cancelled the appointment. Several weeks ago, I tried again and scheduled an AC Maintenance appointment. On the day of the appointment, the technician text messaged me to postpone. The appointment was rescheduled. On the rescheduled date, the technician did not arrive during the scheduled time. I contacted the call center and they had no estimation as to when the technician would arrive. I cancelled the appointment. I am frustrated and disappointed with BGE Home. I will not try for a fourth appointment."

  • "I have been a BGE Home policy holder for many years and for the most part have been very satisfied with their service. Today, I had a scheduled AC check on both of my AC units. My Service Technician was a gentleman named Cameron Thomas. Mr. Thomas called ~1/2 hour before his arrival. When he arrived, he greeted me and was extremely friendly and personable. I am a clean freak and don't like shoes being worn in my house. Before making a move, and without being asked, Mr. Thomas put a pair of "booties" on over his work boots. I directed him to the first inside unit which was in the attic. The entry to the attic is in a bedroom that is my mother's. When he entered, he greeted her very kindly also. After checking the unit, Mr. Thomas informed me that he was going to install a float switch which was not currently installed. I have been in this house for 11 years and have had the unit checked every year and no one has ever mentioned the absence of the switch. Kudos to Mr. Thomas for going above and beyond his job duties. Mr. Thomas continued on with the rest of the inside and outside inspection. Upon completion, he asked if I have any questions or concerns, with no questions or concerns on my part, he offered up for me to have a great day and to enjoy the weather. Employees like Mr. Thomas, are the definition of how to contribute to a high performance team. Please extend my thanks and recognition to Mr. Thomas for a job well done. Thank you!!!"

  • "We have used BGE for a water heater replacement with a good experience and we always have them clean and inspect our HVAC system every spring and fall. However, this last time we have had a horrible experience. We had a technician come out to clean and inspect our air conditioner unit and he told us that a part needed to be replaced and that he would get back to me later that day with the estimate. I never heard back. Two weeks went by and I still did not hear anything, so I called to follow up and was told they would call me back. Another week by with no call back. I called again and spoke to someone who then told me to call the parts department. I called the parts department and they said that the technician supervisor would call me back that day since I never heard back from the technician. That was yesterday, and again no call. I have never had to work so hard to try to give a company money to fix something. Do they not want business?! Paying for the inspection was pointless because now I’m going to have to pay another company to come out, inspect and diagnose, and fix. *****5/12/21 Edited to add- the supervisor called me and apologized and the issue was addressed promptly. I appreciated his follow through and desire to make things right with the customer.******"

  • "We just had our central air unit replaced after being broken for years. We received 3 quotes and BGE Home was the lowest by a considerable amount. We had to wait briefly for equipment to come in, but they were great at scheduling the installation as soon as possible. The installation team arrived within the window (with a 10-minute heads-up call) and worked diligently to get everything done. Once the new unit was installed, they showed us all the new equipment and controls. They cleaned up quickly and hauled away the old unit. Definitely going to keep them on our list for services when we need things done in the future."

  • "I called in January to get service on my stove. One of the burners was not working and this burner had just been repaired 7 months earlier. It took 3 weeks to get an appointment and then they ordered parts on February 10th. It is now March 3rd and the parts are still stuck in a warehouse. The service people are very nice but the length of time it takes to get an actual repair is not worth the money you pay for this home warranty plan."

  • "A few weeks back I had a water heater installed. Installer damaged pipes and drain pan. The pan that was installed was too small and damaged during installation. I called due to both issues, they fixed the leaking pipe within 2 days, telling me someone would call me to replace damaged drain pain. Needless to say, no one called. County inspector came and failed the inspection due to damaged drain pan. I called BGE Home 4x in week, each time being told someone would call me back. No one has. Terrible Terrible service. Wish I never went with them."

  • "I was getting System malfunction alert on thermostat. I Scheduled the service appointment BGE sent a technician promptly who identified the problem, Ordered the part needed and fixed the unit. All done in 3 days. Heating was still working during this time. I’ve been using BGE for over a decade. Scheduling service is simple, one call does it all, technicians are trained, knowledgeable, and professional. I don’t remember one instance when I was not satisfied or had to call back with the same problem."

  • "Before enrolling for appliances service plan agent told me that as they have local technicians in Maryland area their response is quite quick. I enrolled for appliances service plan and paid for yearly membership. As now I have some issue with my gas dryer I called BGE home to schedule a service request; I called on 02/11/2021 and agent told me earliest available appointment is 03/06/2021. It is insane that it will take almost a month just to get first appointment and thereafter I don’t know how it will take to fix the my gas dryer. What they promised before enrollment ‘quick service’ is just a trap to get new customers and once you are enrolled for their service they will not care for you. I argued with agent and cut my call, so she called me again and said that she talked with her service team and now earliest available appointment is 02/24/2021, still 2 weeks from my request. As I have paid for service for a year, I will continue for this year. But after that noway I will continue with this kind of service."

  • "Got new units installed by BGE HOME. After a few visits to fix the blowers. It works fine. The heating system does not blow hot air like the old unit. The Technician wasn't able to adjust it. This causes the system to work more and cost me more money. I wish that I fixed the heat exchanger instead 😫. BGE Home may have sold me a newer unit. But not all new things don't make it better. I have to readjust my way of living."

  • "My Dad (RIP) used this company for many years to service and keep our HVAC running smoothly. Now I continue to use them. Not only for HVAC but plumbing as well. In 2020 they have replaced my sewer line (get the water & sewer line insurance because it's most likely NOT covered in your home owners insurance) & water heater. For the sewer line replacement they used a technique that didn't involve digging a trench in my yard. Two holes dug and pulled the new pipe through the existing path. No more flooding in my basement floor drain. My home was built in the 60's so there's old things that are difficult to match up with new equipment. My previous water heater was installed back in 1995. 1995! It finally started leaking in 2020. BGE Home to the rescue. It's wasn't just a simple replacement as the venting ducts for my gas water heater has to be updated to code. I'm so glad I decided not to take on that project myself. The technician has some difficulty but got it done correctly. All the extras that where needed for the install came at no extra charge since I have a plumbing contact. Service has always been speedy. I'll say they aren't the cheapest in town but I'm willing to pay for great quality."

  • "I would never recommend BGE Home after the experience I had during the purchasing process for my heat pump. The estimator told me that my lines needed to be replaced and that was not accurate. BGE Home pricing was more expensive than the other estimates but I thought I was making an investment in their knowledge and experience. After the installation of the unit, I was not told the correct size for the air filter. I continued to use the air filter size from my previous unit since I was not told otherwise. The technician that came out recently had to measure and tell me the correct air filter size for my current unit. Overall, I expected more from BGE Home."

  • "Misleading sewer line coverage: Our sewer line backed up. BGE Home performed a camera inspection and it was determined that our sewer line is failing and needs to be replaced. We have their sewer line plan that covers up to $4,000.00. We were quoted $8,600 to replace the sewer line, which would be $4,600 after the coverage discount. We obtained 3 other estimates from highly rated plumbers that averaged $5,000. BGE Home is over $3,000 more! So it seems that BGE Home offers you coverage and then inflates the price so high that you end up paying close to full price."

Not the mention that when we did have to call BGE Home for service in 2020, it took them 3 weeks to come out to fix our AC. We will be cancelling the warranties we currently have with BGE Home."

  • "I have a 3 year old system, installed by BGE that has not run well since installed. It has now been down since Sunday, 10/27, which the tech said was the heat pump fan. It is now Friday and still no system. This is also the 2nd time the system has been down for days. I have spoken with Aisha, who told me it would be 4 hours before a supervisor/manager called me back. Never happened. So I called again, to be told I will hear back, within two hours, through this week, I have Melissa, Michelle, Lenny, *couldn't make out name*, Becca and Mary. No one will call me back. Bought the Extended Labor Program, Replacement guarantee, everything so I would have to deal with this. Have missed 6 days of work and spent almost $1000 on dehumidifiers for the air handler ( which they couldn't figure out how a panel there got corroded within the first year ) and window A/C units since I have now air conditioning. First time, my wife was pregnant in the heat. Now, my daughter is in a hot house. I paid you $14k for the system, so your just going to ignore me now? Update: After giving me an appointment to finally fix the unit, after being told the parts arrived two separate times, they No Showed me. No one ever came. I called again, got nowhere. I posted about them on social media and finally someone called me back. ( Why do things come to that ? ) Tech came out, installed the parts...there's something else wrong. To shorten the story, someone came out 5 days later to install the other part. They also lost one part that they told me I can buy online ( uh, not my fault or problem ). Still no one will contact me about this system having issues, now 17 days later. Is this what you want for service?"

  • "I’ve always had great experiences with BGE Home in the past but when scheduling my heating and cooling system maintenance appointment recently, I was notified that if I miss the call from my technician, they will cancel my appointment. I fully understand and appreciate that they need to review items pertaining to COVID-19 prior to the appointment but I was told I will have no opportunity to call back or have the tech leave a message with a follow up number. They will just cancel the appointment and go on with their day. To me, this seems like very poor service considering they are scheduling a month and half out. I will still keep my contract since I think they offer a valuable service and the techs are always fantastic but I’m quite disappointed in the lack of flexibility, considering the long lead time and an arrival window of 5-7hrs."

Later the same day, my husband called and spoke to a different person and we told IT was covered. How happy was I to hear that news. We made an appointment for them to come out and a few weeks later (only took them lest than 5 min) we were back in action. Very pleased with service rendered."
