The passion for quality construction work is in our genes. It began three generations ago with a my great grandfather, who was known for the schools he built throughout southeastern Wisconsin. His son, my grandfather, owned a successful remodeling business, which he sold to my father and now includes my brother. We were involved in these companies from a very young age, by cleaning up job sites and observing tradespeople. Each generation of our family placed an enormous amount of value on performing quality work on someone's home and keeping a good relationship with customers. In 1994, our hometown was hit by a catastrophic hail storm. We saw a need for the repair of roofs for a significant percentage of our community and reached out to our uncle, who had a home remodeling company in Colorado and had recently experienced a hail storm for some advice. The company grew quickly, but with the understanding that we needed to be able to scale back to a much smaller company once the hail damage was repaired. After that storm, the company continued to perform repair work on homes and buildings that were damaged by smaller hail storms throughout the region over the next several years. After graduating from college, I spent seven years working for building materials wholesalers. This gave me incredible insight into products, warranties, manufacturing processes and the entire construction industry. A few years later, another large hail storm hit just outside our hometown. Because my parents had an office there also, I returned to the family business to again, help our community recover from a significant storm. By this time, the insurance companies knew who we were and liked working with our family. They appreciated our honesty and commitment to our, and their, customers. Some of them invited America's Best Remodeling to partner with them and become preferred providers. As part of this relationship, we have sent most of our employees to training sessions attended by insurance adjusters and have adopted many of their procedures and software, to make the process seamless and efficient. We were called to open offices around the country after hail storms hit elsewhere, including Montana, Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and the Dakotas. As we have grown America's Best Remodeling, my focus turned to hiring and training others who, like me, focused of quality work, customer satisfaction and job site safety. My wife recognized the importance of efficient operations, and left her career as Director of Marketing at a large corporate law firm to work with me. Others in our family have continued to join the team, bringing their decades of experience. Together, we strive to continue the family tradition of improving people's lives by improving their homes after a hail storm.
"Well my previous review got taken down for some reason so here we go again. Terrible company, they only give a two year warranty on roof installation, TWO years for a roof that should last 30 years and when they do it wrong you are screwed. They gave me an estimate and when they found out what the insurance company would pay they increased their price, the roof looks so bumpy and very soft in many places. Four years after the repair was done we have moisture issues and the roof has to be redone and they basically told me that is not their problem anymore, Went to BBB and they said a bunch of lies and at the end they just didn't respond at all. I am taking the hit but hopefully this help people spend their money somewhere else."
"We were verbally quoted the cost to remove the tree off of the house would be $5000. We were extremely surprised that it was four times that amount with charges that were not revealed prior to work being done. We were charged for time and services not provided. When I called to complain I was told I don’t know what I’m talking about. He accused me of wanting to make money off insurance claim. Our expectation was insurance would be billed $5k. They would be paid $5k. My issue is they billed more than 4x the amount we were quoted. Something is wrong here."
"I can’t speak for the quality of work. I had Marv, a salesman for the company take a look at my roof after completing his inspection on my next door neighbors. No appointment, just glad to help. After his inspection, he put a couple of small tarps down on my roof and proceeded to tell me that the roof looked great. I needed a couple of top caps and a few other spots had cosmetic damage. He could have easily pushed a new roof and with insurance behind him that would have been the easy money route. It could have been a long drawn out battle with the insurance company. Honesty and integrity is Marv’s middle name. I would definitely recommend asking this guys opinion. He will go above and beyond, tell you what you need, and get the job done. Marv I appreciate your honesty!"
