  • "UPDATE: the problems continue, after having Horizon out several times to fix siding issues, our home is still having issues with the siding coming loose and gapping. In addition to warped siding I requested be fixed and supposedly was is still warping. Our home is 17 months old and I’m now having to pay more money to fix their poor workmanship. Had a foundation leak within the first month upon completion of the house being built and us moving in (they had a company come out and fill it with epoxy only a 3 year warranty for the repair from the repair company , as Horizon only warranties their foundation for a year) so far the fix has held but now we will have to disclose this defect to any buyer which could decrease the value of our home. We had water coming up through the grout in the shower (the plumber that was sent by Horizon to make sure it wasn’t a leak said this was normal) I wound up paying a different company to rip the floor out after only having used it for 10 months due to water continuously coming up through the grout even though the shower wasn’t used for over 2 months, haven’t had an issue since. My egress window well was installed too low and was pulling away from the foundation I requested it be replaced. No repair plan was discussed with me they just came added an extension and tarred some of the gaps between the foundation wall and window well. The Exhaust vent for the hood range was left completely unsealed, then forcefully sealed and dumped a few cans of caulk in. We stated this was not a proper fix so they came and forced another vent cover over the siding again with a bunch of caulk to close the gaps, this snapped off so they came and did the same thing. My husband told Bill we wanted this fixed properly with vent cover flush with the house and the siding laid around like our neighbors we even had a home inspector note this as being not a permanent solution we were told all warrantable fixes were addressed so now we will have to pay some one to do this correctly in the spring. No siding was installed under the gas meter when this was addressed I expressed my displeasure at the quality of the finished fix only to be told all warrantable repairs have been completed. The paint job was horrible, they offered to have the owner of the paint company come address it but after a negative experience with the owner of the paint company we declined to have him back in our home. Crooked walls, tiling in the laundry room doesn’t go to the wall in the corner as the wall in not straight. There are portions of the floor where we have discovered the floor was installed over the trim so if the trim needs to be removed there is a sizable gap in between the flooring and wall. Upon moving in we discovered there was no furnace filter out in our furnace. Several spots in the finish work that are frankly poor workmanship. With most of these repairs we wound up opting to either fix them ourselves or pay someone else to do them as we did not trust who would have been hired by Horizon by the unsatisfactory repairs already completed and the quality of the initial job."

My egress window well was installed below grade and was pulling away from the foundation I requested it be replaced. No repair plan was discussed with me they just came added an extension and tarred some of the gaps between the foundation wall and window well. Siding has come lose in one spot at least twice now (they have come and re nailed it). • "My wife and I purchased our home just short of one year ago, and I feel compelled to write a review on how lucky I feel to have purchased a Horizon home. Everything is made exceptionally well and their level of post sale service sets the bar for other new home builders. Things I’ve noticed since living in the home that other builders cheap out on: - 10 Feet Ceilings on the main floor. Makes a HUGE difference - Material choice is all around just better - They are not worried about savings a buck, so they don’t trying to cut cost by providing a low quality furnace, AC units, and small electrical panels. - The only things that are “builder grade” are truly the things that can be changed by someone with no building skills whatsoever. Just my opinion. I’m somewhat obsessive over finding mistakes on craftsmanship. With the year we had in 2020 I spent a lot more time at home and over that time I’ve found almost nothing to obsess over, request fixing, or fix myself. With that being said, when there were things that I found they sent people out right away. I’ll save you from reading my examples, but I trust this is just their way of doing business. They are genuine people who make slighter higher end homes (to my standards) at a fraction of the cost due to their low overhead in comparison to their bigger rivals. Why wife is probably annoyed from me saying “Man I’m glad we bought this house!” several times a month 😂 I’ve personally worked with Greg (owner) and Bill (I believe co-owner and more hands on with the post sale service). Can’t say enough. Chances are if you build or buy using Horizon Homes you’re getting much more for your money for what you can and can’t see."

  • "Our project is not yet complete, it is a work in progress. This was the first time we built a house, we were looking for for pre-existing homes at first, so building a house was not planned. We had talked to a couple of different builders before we choose Horizon. Horizon's standards were many other builders upgrades. It has been an incredibly smooth process so far. Most of our dealings have been with Bryan and we have 0 complaints. He answers all of our emails in a timely manner and is almost always reachable by phone. Horizon does a wonderful job of making the stressful building process as smooth as possible. I would highly recommend them. I will update my review upon completion. Update : Our house is finished, right on schedule. House came out beautifully, it was a great experience working with horizon homes on this project. We had a lot of contact with their construction manager, Bill, and he was very responsive and helpful throughout the finish. I would highly recommend them when building a new home."
