  • "Believe it or not, I had to drastically shorten this review so as to not exceed the character limit. There is so much more to the story. I'm happy to share additional information if anyone is interested. I would HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone from hiring Asterisk Roofing & Construction, LLC. We have just been through one of the most frustrating and stressful periods of our lives. We had burst pipes from the Texas winter storm in February 2021, which flooded about 60% of our home. We contacted Brett Ellsworth at Asterisk Roofing & Construction regarding a rebuild. Most of our belongings had been put in storage, so there was VERY little that had to be moved or worked around during construction. Brett provided an estimate on April 23, 2021. The bid included 2 rows – the first for reconstruction of the damaged areas and the second including any additional costs that arose from our decision to do a bit of a remodel in the master bath. I asked for an itemized list of all labor and material costs multiple times during this disaster, and the most Brett would provide was a 5-row estimate. Surely for a $30,000+ job, an actual itemized list was possible! I got tired of asking and finally gave up when we wrapped up the project. I really didn’t want to have to deal with him again. When we initially talked with Brett, he indicated this would be a 3–4-week job. They began work on May 13, and we made our final payment on August 24, so the actual duration was over 3 months. Brett said that he had previously been a Construction Project Manager and that he or a representative would be on site each day. That was a blatant lie. At one point, we decided to wait and see how long it took him to check in and it took over 3 weeks! It was certainly not what a seasoned Project Manager would have seen as acceptable. Here are some other things that did not go as we would have expected: 1. The first subcontractor simply stopped showing up after the first few days. His team did things incorrectly and sloppily. They “borrowed” (without asking) and damaged multiple tools from the garage. 2. Their work was subpar and some of it had to be redone by the next subcontractor. The floors throughout the house were not installed correctly and still have issues. The only way to fix this would be to rip up the floors and begin again. That has not happened. 3. The second subcontractor and his crew were amazing. We always had direct contact with their manager via phone and/or text, which made the lack of communication with Brett more bearable. Unfortunately, Brett did not often communicate with him either. 4. Materials were not purchased until the last minute, causing delays in the project. We had to purchase the sinks ourselves, we installed the faucets, we installed the lights, we finished the flooring in the laundry room – all to keep things moving forward. 5. At one point, the first subcontractors removed the door from the laundry room into the garage in order to remove the washer and dryer so they could lay the floor. That door remained off for weeks, during which we could literally feel the cool air from the house escaping into the garage. Brett himself came to rehang the door. He said he “fixed it” for us. No, he didn’t. The door would no longer close properly afterwards. 6. I gave Brett a punch list of final items remaining on several occasions. In fact, I sent it to him every 1-2 days because I was not receiving a response. We did not have furniture for most of that time and were forced to sleep on air mattresses in the living room for at least 2 months, which has resulted in major back issues that I am still working with doctors to correct. We did not have sinks in either bathroom for most of the time, so all hand washing, face washing and teeth brushing occurred in the kitchen. Save yourself a lot of headaches and do not even consider hiring this company to do any construction. I cannot comment on their roofing work since I did not have that done, but I wouldn’t consider hiring them for ANYTHING going forward."

  • "Due to the freezing temperatures, we ended up with busted pipes throughout the house. I called Asterisk Roofing to see if they knew any plumbers. They had a plumber out to look at the damage ASAP. Luke dove into fixing the pipes had my house up and running in a day and he and the team were very professional and did an outstanding job. I now have water! Thank you."

  • "Lane was prompt, responsive and a true professional as he took time out during very busy winter storm issues that are happening across DFW to come by for a quick consultation on our sink/drainage issue. Provided great service and would highly recommend Lane and his crew."

  • "If you are looking for a caring group who acts fast to meet your needs, you’ve found it! My elderly neighbor was without water due to a busted water pipe from the recent winter storm. We had her on multiple lists with a wait time of 2 weeks, but as soon as Lane found out, he had someone en route with an hour and took excellent care of her. I highly recommend them!"

  • "Lane came out to inspect our broken pipe the same day we called him, which was the Sunday after the week of snow February ‘21. He dug where it seemed to be leaking and helped us determine exactly where it was coming from. He was very professional, honest, and knew what he was talking about. We would definitely recommend him for any of your home repair needs."

  • "I am simply amazed to see people who will do good for others during times of suffering. Layne Gregory and Asterisk Roofing's crews delivering free firewood, propane, blankets and help to people in need during the winter storm we just had. If I ever need a roof, these are the folks I'll be calling. Thank you all for your service!"
