"Great service. Very professional."
"OMG!!! STAY AWAY! They should have 0 stars!!!!!!! This Company is horrible!!! My HVAC failed this summer in my medical office. McDowall was called for repairs, which were estimated at $6-8 thousand dollars. The parts however were several weeks out and our building needed to be closed as the temps inside were approaching 100 degrees. I asked if there was anything we could do to get this fixed sooner to reopen. A new rooftop unit was suggested at the approx cost of $20,000. We needed to reopen so I really had no choice. I had no time to get other estimates. That friday a brand new Trane unit was to be delivered and installed. We were told it would be up and running with the building cooling that day. Whether a faulty unit from Trane, or poor installation, the unit fell apart after it was installed, with the fan motor dropping out and destroying the inner components of the unit. Needless to say we were back to square one! I spoke with the local electric company supplying the power to our building and they advised me not to use this type of 3 phase unit since we only have single phase to our building. Stick with single phase electronics was their suggestion. I brought this up to Terry Bottema at Mc Dowall. It seemed he had agreed this would be the best approach and would talk with Trane about a solution. The solution was: 2, 3-4 ton, 80,000 BTU residential-like units instead of a single roof top unit, and they would do that for the low cost of about $90,000. I am not kidding - Terry Bottema wanted me to sign a contract for almost $90,000 to install 2 AC/furnace units that one can by online for less than 5,000 each. To be fair, included in that cost was taking down their faulty, broken Trane unit and patching the roof where the faulty unit came from - generous right???? They are obviously covering their cost for the failed $20,000 unit, quadrupling the cost of new units, and adding some astronomical labor charges to cover the faulty work or workmanship form their initial blunder. This is thievery in the worst way. Do not patronize this crooked organization. Stay as far away as possible - don't make the same mistake that I did!"
