GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, was again voted #1 in quality in the 2012 BUILDER Brand Use Study, Roofing: Asphalt/Fiberglass Shingles category. GAF secured this position in 2009 and 2010, as well, with the highest four-year average in the category. The company also ranked highest in the 2012 study for the brand of asphalt shingles most used.
According to BUILDER Group Publisher Jeff Calore, this is the largest study of its kind in the residential construction market, and has become a staple for educating builders about products and brands most respected by their colleagues and associates. “The BUILDER Brand Use Study continues to show that Quality is one of the top criteria homebuilders of all sizes use for brand selection and preference. Given all the transformation and innovation we have been seeing in the homebuilding industry over the last few years, it is impressive that GAF has consistently ranked so highly over this time in this important metric with our 100,000+ subscribers in the asphalt roofing category," he says.
“We are certainly pleased to know that builders have again found our shingles to be the highest in quality and that they are also the most often used,” stated Paul Bromfield, senior vice president of marketing at GAF. “Builders are obviously one of the most important constituency groups for our success, and it is rewarding to know that they acknowledge the quality of GAF’s Advanced Protection® Shingles.”
With a continuing focus on innovation, GAF incorporates its proprietary Advanced Protection® Technology into all its laminated shingle products. This results in shingles that offer improved performance—including superior durability and wind resistance—while reducing the use of precious natural resources. All GAF Lifetime Shingles also pass ASTM’s two toughest wind tests—ASTM D3161 Class F 110 mph and ASTM D7158 Class H 150 mph—and carry GAF’s Lifetime limited warranty.
The brand-use study, conducted by Readex Research and published by Hanley-Wood, LLC, Washington D.C., surveyed a statistical sample from Builder readers to rank roofing brands. The full results will be published in the April 2012 issue of Builder magazine.
