GAF, the largest roofing manufacturer in North America, has added two new modified bitumen membranes to the Ruberoid® family: Ruberoid® EnergyCap™ MOP FR and Ruberoid® MOP PLUS SMOOTH. Both are premium, heavy duty products that are designed for new roofing and reroofing applications and both meet or exceed the performance requirements of ASTM 6164 Type II testing.
Ruberoid® EnergyCap™ MOP FR is a fire-retardant membrane with a factory applied layer of TOPCOAT®EnergyCote™ elastomeric coating, and should be applied when long-term roof system performance is specified. The product’s heavy weight polyester mat core allows it to resist splits and tears, making it both durable and resilient. Ruberoid® EnergyCap™ Mop FR – like all EnergyCap™ products – meets LEED requirements.
The Ruberoid® MOP PLUS SMOOTH is made up of a strong, non-woven polyester mat that is coated with flexible, SBS polymer-modified asphalt and is smooth-surfaced. Ideal for repairs of built-up roofing membranes or other modified bitumen systems, it can also be used for the construction of flashings.
