For the fourth year in a row, GAF-Elk has received the eminent "Partners of Choice" award from David Weekley Homes, the nation's second largest privately held home builder. Prior to its merger with GAF Materials Corporation, Elk Corporation had also received the award in 2005 and 2006.
Only 11 companies out of approximately 150 vendors received an “A” “Partners of Choice” award. Winners compete against companies in every sector of the building materials industry (not just their own). “GAF-Elk’s mission is to be a world-class organization, and the David Weekley survey is an excellent way to measure world class performance,” commented Paul Bromfield, Sr. Vice President of Marketing at GAF-Elk. “We’re truly honored to be named a ‘Partner of Choice’ for the fourth year in a row for our service to the David Weekley organization.”
The awards are based on the David Weekley Homes’ National Trading Partner Survey, a running quarterly review of about 150 suppliers. The ratings are provided by nearly 600 David Weekley Team Members from all levels within the company. Suppliers are rated on a scale of 1 to 10. The scores for each company are averaged then ranked with all others that participate. Alpha rankings are assigned in 20% increments, from A to F.
“What separates the top two or three competitors in the market is their ability to overcome the unique challenges in their industry that impact consistently delivering high quality, competitively priced products to our job sites”, said Bill Justus, vice president supply chain services and founder of David Weekley Homes’ National Trading Partner Survey. “Our survey identifies those companies that are successful in overcoming their industry’s unique challenges, and creating value in the eyes of our team members. GAF-Elk has demonstrated their ability to do this – through expanding and contracting economies. Through their actions, they have proven to be among the best of the best in creating value in the eyes of our team members.”
Jim Schnepper, Sr. Vice President of Sales for GAF-Elk, commented "With this evaluation process, David Weekley Homes clearly demonstrates its high standards for service that are translated directly from its supplier partners to their customers, the homeowners. It is truly a great achievement for GAF-Elk, especially having earned this distinction for four years – 16 quarters - in a row. This award is shared with the GAF-Elk sales force, manufacturing plants, supply chain partners, and everyone in the GAF-Elk organization."
