About Us

Jerry Phillips was born and raised in Scioto County, Ohio. Jerry’s father and grandfather were both in the construction field and at a young age he was introduced to the hammer and nail mentality. Growing up Jerry would always be around the jobsite and this is where he picked up his knowledge and love for building people’s dreams of a new home, addition or just the addition of a concrete driveway. In 1960, Jerry ventured out on his own and started working on his on projects while also working at the New Boston steel factory known as Detroit steel. Jerry continued building small projects for homeowners for several years and in the 1970’s when Detroit steel closed the production mill in New Boston Jerry was forced to tackle more projects to provide for his family. The economy of this era wasn’t robust, and Jerry had to pause his business and for a brief while Jerry moved to Iowa to take on work with another thriving steel mill. After working away from his family, Jerry returned to Scioto county, reinvigorated, he put forth his best effort with his business and continued to grow adding a masonry crew to his carpentry crew also adding commercial construction to his portfolio. In the 1980’s Jerry continued to grow his business and added several pieces of earth moving equipment for his civil work. With a rapidly expanding annual volume Jerry expanded his business into a full fledge general contractor and continued this growth into the late 1990’s. In the late 1990’s, Jerry’s youngest son Jeremy, known as “J.J.” was brought into the business making it now a “family” business. J.J. brought to the business a fresh and new mind set to the family business, one that has been with the company for over 20 years. J.J. brought the process of ongoing education for all the employees that has enriched the “back bone” of our company’s mission. In the early 2000’s Jerry and J.J. realized that having the expertise of installing manufactured products such as asphalt shingle roof systems would not only benefit our employees but our clients as well, giving our clients piece of mind knowing that the project was in great hands with Jerry Phillips, LLC a manufactured trained professional.
