User-friendly tool helps evaluate roofing options
PARSIPPANY, N.J. (April 11, 2017) Recognizing the unique complexities of the commercial roofing industry, GAF has developed a revolutionary roof-evaluation software program to help property owners, consultants, architects, and facilities managers select the most appropriate roofing system for their specific needs.
The easy-to-use web-based GAF Roof Advisor™ focuses the roof-selection process into 18 essential questions, such as building location, roofing substrate, life expectancy, and so on. Based on these answers, GAF Roof Advisor™ generates a detailed list of recommended roofing materials and attachment options, along with informative links on the proposed solutions. Users can print the results for easy reference as they move forward with their roofing project. The GAF Roof Advisor™ back-end logic was developed in-house, and leverages the extensive experience of the technical staff at GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer.
“We built the GAF Roof Advisor™ with the needs of roof consultants and architects, as well as building owners and managers, in mind,” said Paul Dellanno, Assistant Marketing Manager for GAF. “This new digital tool makes it much easier for them to do important preliminary research before sitting down with a roofing contractor. They will have a much better idea of what information they should bring to the first meeting, as well as what questions to ask. It provides an important level of comfort before digging in to the complex process of roofing a commercial structure.”
The systematic approach to roofing needs evaluation built into the GAF Roof Advisor™ application may also provide a valuable learning experience for residential roofers considering a move into the commercial market. GAF Roof Advisor™, which premiered at the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Las Vegas, is available for use now at gaf.com/RoofAdvisor.
Roof Advisor is the newest addition to the suite of innovative tools GAF has developed to help contractors and property owners make more informed roofing decisions. For example, the GAF VR Experience (gaf.com/vr) immerses property owners in a cutting-edge 360° virtual reality learning environment to simulate a typical steep-slope (residential) or low-slope (commercial) roofing system. Last year, GAF released e360, the roofing industry’s most advanced 3D visualizer and estimator, allowing residential contractors to show customers accurate, unobstructed 3D images of their own homes. GAF has also built a rich, informative video library with subjects ranging from choosing the right single-ply solution, to roofing safety, to proper installation tips and techniques.
